Swiss Federal Office of Public Health.
This week the Swiss Federal Office of Public Health (OFSP) announced the results of its analysis of the medicinal effects of cannabis. They concluded that cannabis is useful for reducing chronic pain related to cancer, spasms due to multiple sclerosis, nausea caused by chemotherapy, AIDs related weight loss, sleeping problems and Tourette’s syndrome. The OFSP will take these effects into account when when deciding to grant permission to use the drug. The OFSP points out that cannabis is prohibited in Switzerland and its use will only be allowed for specific medical conditions. The analysis was based on 79 tests on more than 6,000 people.
