FIFA’s Ethics Committee has provisionally banned FIFA President Joseph Blatter, UEFA President and FIFA Vice-President Michel Platini, and FIFA Secretary General Jérôme Valcke, already on garden leave, for 90 days. Under the rules, the ban could be extended for a further 45 days.

In addition, former FIFA Vice-President Chung Mong-joon, a South Korean football official, has been banned for six years and fined CHF 100,000.
The bans take immediate effect and prevents the individuals engaging in any football activities on a national and international level.
A FIFA press release said “The grounds for these decisions are the investigations that are being carried out by the investigatory chamber of the Ethics Committee”.
Proceedings against Chung Mong-joon opened in January 2015 and are based on findings from an investigation into the bidding process for the 2018 and 2022 FIFA World Cup matches.
According to the BBC, all three deny any wrongdoing.
Both Platini and Chung hope to replace Blatter when he steps down as president as planned on 26 February 2016.
