“Neo-Nazi” concert planned near Lausanne

Recently, there has been a spate of gatherings in Switzerland, described by the Swiss press as ‘neo-Nazi’. After a large gathering in Unterwasser, and a smaller one in Kaltbrunn, both in the canton of Saint Gallen, the Blick newspaper revealed late last week, there were plans for a third, near Lausanne on 5 November 2016.

One of the alleged invitees, Daniel Conversano, is described by Blick, as a professed antisemite. He has called for Europe to be completely white in his YouTube videos, reported the newspaper.

Philippe Brennenstuhl, president of the Swiss nationalist party, is said to be another of the planned speakers. He has called for zero immigration in Switzerland.

A further alleged guest, Sébastien de Boëldieu, known also as Sebastien Magnificat, is described by the newspaper, as a supporter of the Italian organization CasaPound, an association that includes members who call themselves “Fascists of the Third Millennium“.

The music line up includes the French group Frakass, according to Blick. The band has released songs with titles such as “Blitzkrieg“, “Magda Goebbels” and “Notre Honneur Est Fidélité“, which some Swiss newspapers, including Blick, translate to the Nazi slogan “Meine Ehre heisst Treue”.

Authorities in Vaud are aware of plans for the event and are in contact with their federal counterparts. No details of their response could be given for security reasons said Laurence Jobin, director of communications for the department of security.

Update: According to 24 Heures, the government of the canton of Vaud has banned this concert on the grounds that it risks public disorder. Calls for a protest against the gathering led to the decision. The ban covers the entire canton and applies to any future concerts planned for a later date.
