Despite warmer temperatures today, the winter chill is far from over. According to Klaus Marquardt of Meteonews, a cold front called “Egon” is heading for Switzerland and will hit on Thursday night and Friday. “We should expect snow, lightening, thunder and falling temperatures” he told 20 Minutes.

Swiss Meteo, has warned there will be 3 degree westerly winds of 90 to 110 km/h across the Swiss plateau, north of the Alpes. Regions above 800 m should expect 35 to 70 cm of snow. Zurich, Bern, Basel, Lausanne and Geneva should expect rain overnight followed by snow on Friday. According to Roger Perret of Meteonews, those on the plateau are likely to see up to 10 cm of snow.
