Last week, Louise Schneider, spray painted the words “Money for arms kills” on a fence which has been erected in front of the bank while the building is renovated. Schneider, a member of a political group agitating for a Switzerland with no military, sprayed the slogan which refers to an initiative that aims to ban the financing of those making arms.
Contacted today by the newspaper 20 Minuten, the SNB said it would press no charges. For the SNB the affair is trivial. Schneider said she used red paint because it is easy to clean.
Images circulated in the media of the political activist being caught in the act and then being taken into police custody.
Given the broad news coverage of her actions, the payback for her efforts has been considerable.
