AN INCONVENIENT SEQUEL – Truth to Power ****

Ex-vice-president Al Gore is back, this time with an even more convincing argument for solving global warming.

He is passionate about saving our planet, and makes one want to follow his lead. This documentary should be shown in all schools and in the American Congress!

LA PASSION VAN GOGH (Loving Vincent) **** (vo French)

This is superb animation as you have never seen it! Seven years in the making, with hundreds of contributing artists, it portrays the great talent of Vincent Van Gogh, literally bringing his canvases to life as it retraces his tortured life and questions the very possibility of his suicide. Brilliant and informative, it is a grand work of cinematic art.

COEXISTER *** (vo French)

Here’s another delightful French comedy à la “Qu’est-ce qu’on à fait au bon dieu?” – a wonderful, politically incorrect spoof (as the French do so well) about creating a singing trio of a priest, an imam, and a rabbi in order to save a music business and maybe promote world peace. But first the trio has to get along… A hoot!

LE SENS DE LA FÊTE *** (vo French)

A day in the life of an events-planner done with intelligence, humor and tenderness as the wedding he is in charge of goes awry. The ever-grouchy Jean-Pierre Bacri is at the height of his talent here. See it !

NUMÉRO UNE **1/2 (vo French)

Here is a French feminist tale of how a woman can rise to the top of the business world – by using the same ruses as the men around her. Intriguing, and once again timely. Never underestimate French cinema.

LA QUÊTE D’ALAIN DUCASSE **1/2 (vo French)

A crisp documentary about the multiple Michelin starred French chef who no longer cooks, but rather oversees his international empire, regularly flying to his 23 restaurants around the world. As he says, he is the conductor of his food orchestra. This is elitism incarnate – from Japanese perfection to amazing Chinese caviar farms and dinners at Versailles for top politicians. Impressive.

KINGSMAN 2 *1/2

You’ll get a kick out of this James Bond wannabe if you’re 15. Your choice. Supposedly flippant, yet senselessly violent.
