British polling booths have closed. An estimated 72% of voters turned out to vote. No results have been released yet, however the BBC reports that a YouGov poll has remain in the lead by 52% to 48%. This is only a poll and not a vote result. The Telegraph has reported that Tory party members who supported Brexit have signed a letter urging prime minister David Cameron to stay on as leader regardless of the result.

The markets appear to be betting on the remain camp winning. The pound has risen to 1.50 US dollars, according to Reuters.
The first completed vote count was Gibraltar, where 95.9% voted to remain. The second vote count in was Newcastle and Tyne, which returned a remain results of 50.7% and the third was Sunderland with a 61.3% voting leave.
