According to 24Heures some Swiss lakes are starting to overflow. Lake Bienne and Lake Neuchatel are being watched closely. The water level of Lake Bienne appears to have stabilised, however Lake Neuchatel’s is expected to continue rising. The alert level is at 4 out of 5 and several camping areas have been flooded.
According to Tribune de Genève, parts of Yverdon have been threatened. The water level rose 84 centimetres above its normal level on Wednesday on the western shore of Lake Neuchatel bordering Yverdon.
The last few weeks have seen heavy rains. This combined with Switzerland’s large mountain rain catchment areas has resulted in heavy runoff water flows in rivers and lakes.
It is expected to take several weeks for lake water levels to return to normal in the three Lakes (Morat, Neuchatel, Bienne) area.
