In summer many start thinking about beach holidays however none of the top three destinations preferred by Swiss travellers have beaches. Instead they are big global cities. New York took the top spot, followed by London with Paris in third position. For many Swiss, travelling to New York is a dream. The rankings are based on data from the first half of 2015, compiled by the Hotel Price Index (HPI) published by Hotels.com.
A comparison with 2015 shows that there were winners and losers. Las Vegas remained popular while San Francisco and Miami lost ground. Los Angeles fell out of the top 20. Bangkok and Milan rose to 15th and 9th positions respectively. And Lisbon was a new addition to the 20 top destinations.
